Overview
NBR is the general-purpose workhorse of sealing: good resistance to mineral oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids, strong mechanical properties and low cost. Its main weaknesses are ozone, weathering and heat.
Strengths
- • Good resistance to mineral oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids
- • Strong mechanical and abrasion resistance
- • Wide hardness range and good value
- • Reliable for dynamic seals
Limitations
- • Poor ozone, weather and UV resistance
- • Limited heat resistance (about +100 °C)
- • Not suitable for polar solvents or brake fluid
- • Not for strong acids
