Overview

NBR is the general-purpose workhorse of sealing: good resistance to mineral oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids, strong mechanical properties and low cost. Its main weaknesses are ozone, weathering and heat.

Strengths

  • • Good resistance to mineral oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids
  • • Strong mechanical and abrasion resistance
  • • Wide hardness range and good value
  • • Reliable for dynamic seals

Limitations

  • • Poor ozone, weather and UV resistance
  • • Limited heat resistance (about +100 °C)
  • • Not suitable for polar solvents or brake fluid
  • • Not for strong acids
