Overview

Ethylene acrylate keeps much of polyacrylate's heat and oil ageing performance while extending low-temperature flexibility to around −40 °C. It is widely used in automotive powertrain and coolant applications where both heat resistance and cold flexibility are required.

Strengths

  • • Wider temperature range than ACM, down to about −40 °C
  • • Good heat ageing to +150 °C
  • • Good ozone, weather and coolant resistance
  • • Retains flexibility in cold automotive service

Limitations

  • • Oil resistance below NBR and ACM in aggressive oils
  • • Not suitable for fuels or aromatic hydrocarbons
  • • Poor with strong acids and bases
  • • Not suitable for glycol brake fluid
